Meet our new CEO: Deric Hoch
We are excited to announce the appointment of Deric Hoch as the new CEO of 613 Originals as of October 1st, 2023!
Deric will replace Frank Flanagan, 613 Originals’ founder, who built this company from a small start-up to a leader in the apparel decoration industry. Frank will continue to be involved with the company assuming a revised role of advisor and board member.
Deric is highly experienced within the screen printing and apparel industry and has brought that experience to 613 Originals as Vice President of Operations before stepping into his new role. Over the past few months, Deric has contributed to the growth of the company through the expansion of developing new products, transitioning to a larger facility, and building a strong and diverse team.
“I’m honored to step into this role and lead 613 Originals into its next phase,” said Deric. “Frank has been an incredible mentor, and I’m proud to lead a team that continues to redefine what it means to be the best partner in this industry. 2024 is going to be a big year for 613 Originals. I believe our customers will love the new products and improved services we’ll be launching soon - all while maintaining the excellent customer care that’s become synonymous with our brand.”
We sat down with our new CEO and asked him a few questions:
What do you like most about working at 613 Originals?
The products we provide and what that means to our customers. We give our customers the ability to decorate their product with only a heat press. Nearly any art they can imagine can be ordered, printed, shipped, and applied in as little as a day or two. Screen printing has a steep learning curve and a high cost of entry. We empower entrepreneurs and small business owners with the tools they need to compete at a high level by lowering those barriers. This avoids lots of the miss-steps and pitfalls that usually come up in the process.
Additionally, I love our team. I work with some of the best and couldn’t ask for a more passionate team. From our Director of Pre-Press that has not only advanced knowledge of art prep but also brings a high level of printing and operational excellence. To our Director of Customer Support that has her finger on the pulse of everything from sales to production, quality assurance, shipping and more.
Instead of just one person that knows their job very well, I have 5 or 6 industry experienced team members at the top that know large portions of each other’s jobs as well. It allows us to have a much more flexible environment and be more agile when coming up with new and creative ways to print, which moves us forward with R&D. We continually push each other further, allowing a lot more out of the box thinking and sharing of knowledge. The only way for a business to succeed or a product to work is to have the entire team believing in it and aligned with the same clear goals in mind. There is so much knowledge and passion about the industry between us all and that is what moves 613 forward.
Which 613 Originals formula is your favorite?
That’s an easy one. Our Original full color process. It has a soft hand and lower temperature application. What we do is near magical, we are printing high resolution, 4 color process, plastisol, screen print that in my opinion, is the best true screen printed process transfer on the market. Our team were instrumental in taking an already amazing product, developing it further and getting it to the next level. We have created a very nice product at a reasonable price point that feels like a screen printed product because at the end of the day, it is a screen printed product. We’re working to develop it even further to make it even softer, thinner and better. Stay tuned.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
Growth. The ability to grow into our new space. The opportunity to partner with larger businesses and the stack of new products that we will begin to offer in 2024.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Trust. Trust the process and trust your intuition.

613 Originals today announced the appointment of Deric Hoch as its new Chief Executive Officer. Deric will replace Frank Flanagan, who founded 613 Originals in 2018, leading the company from a small start-up to a leader in the apparel decoration industry.
As Vice President of Operations since joining in 2020, Deric has contributed to the growth of the company through the expansion of its product portfolio, leading the transition to a larger facility, and building a strong and diverse team.

Deric boasts nearly 30 years of experience in the screen printing and apparel decoration industry. Through his expertise and intimate understanding of the industry, he is always looking for new and interesting decorating techniques to inform and develop innovative products to bring to market. Deric has worked tirelessly alongside companies, from local shops to enterprise accounts, committed to finding solutions that best fit their needs.
Frank will remain an active part of the company’s growth, shifting to a revised role of advisor and board member.

To support its growth and increase in demand, 613 Originals has moved to a larger facility located in Mahwah, New Jersey. The new, state-of-the-art facility marks the explosive growth the company has experienced in the past few years. More details on the new facility to come!

Frank and his wife Michele started their career in 1981 by starting their own screen printing business and selling souvenir shirts from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to Seaside Heights, New Jersey for many years. In early 1983, Frank discovered how to print heat transfers. Frank perfected his business and created a massive transfer company which caught the interest of several investors. Frank sold his company in 2013.
